How the Calculator Works

The Assumptions Behind Your Estimate

☀️

Solar Irradiation

Maharashtra averages 5.5 peak sun hours/day — one of India's highest solar resources.

⚙️

System Efficiency

We factor in 80% overall system efficiency accounting for inverter losses, dust, and wiring losses.

📈

Tariff Escalation

Electricity rates typically rise 5–8% annually — factored into your long-term savings projection.

💰

Cost Per kWp

Current Maharashtra market rate ₹60–70K/kWp for residential and ₹50–60K/kWp for commercial.

Common Questions

Solar Finance FAQ

What is the minimum system size I should install? +
For residential consumers, we recommend a minimum of 3 kWp to make installation economical and to fully utilize PM Surya Ghar subsidies. For commercial/industrial consumers with bills above ₹15,000/month, we recommend 10 kWp and above.
Can I get a bank loan for solar installation? +
Yes! Most nationalized banks (SBI, Bank of Maharashtra, Bank of Baroda) offer solar loans at 7–9% interest. Some NBFCs also offer specific solar financing products. Aureka assists clients with loan documentation as part of our service package.
How does net metering work in Maharashtra? +
Under MSEDCL's net metering policy, excess solar units you generate are exported to the grid and credited to your electricity bill. Your bill is calculated on the net units consumed (units used minus units exported). The credit is valid and can be adjusted against future bills.
What is the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana? +
PM Surya Ghar is the central government's flagship rooftop solar subsidy scheme for residential consumers. It provides ₹30,000 for 1 kWp, ₹60,000 for 2 kWp, and ₹78,000 for 3 kWp or more. Applications are made via the national portal and Aureka guides you through the entire process.
Will solar work during power cuts? +
Standard grid-tied solar systems shut down automatically during power cuts (for safety reasons). To use solar during outages, you need a hybrid system with battery storage (BESS). Aureka offers both on-grid and hybrid solar configurations — speak to our team about the right fit for you.
